Shamilla Roberts, founder of Green Raven Organics, has a remarkable story of resilience and dedication to food justice. Her journey began with her adoption from foster care by her loving mother, Ruby, who taught her the value of community and gardening. Inspired by Ruby’s legacy and her tragic passing from food-related diseases, Shamilla committed herself to ensuring that no one else would suffer due to food insecurity. Shamilla is now a certified Ball Master Food Preserver, and she uses her expertise to advance GRO’s mission.

Shamilla’s certification as a Ball Master Food Preserver brings invaluable knowledge to Green Raven Organics. She applies her skills in food preservation to educate the community on sustainable practices and to support our urban gardening and Mobile Markets initiatives. Her expertise ensures that our programs are both innovative and effective.
